Restaurante Hacienda Teya is a culinary gem in the heart of Merida's historic center, located on Calle 60, close to the vibrant park - Parque de Santa Lucia. This restaurant showcases the flavors of Yucatecan cuisine, offering guests a diverse array of traditional dishes from the region in a beautifully decorated space adorned with textiles, cart wheels, and hats. Open for breakfast through to dinner, the morning menu tempts with cochinita and lechon tortas to share, eggs prepared to your liking, lechon enchiladas, chilaquiles, French toast, and quesadillas. Pair these with coffee, teas, fresh juices, or flavored natural waters.
For lunch and dinner, diners can explore a selection of starters like sikil pak dip, panuchos, salbutes, lime soup, and longaniza from Valladolid, alongside the smoked pork from Teya. The main courses feature iconic dishes such as Cochinita Pibil, slow-roasted pork marinated in achiote, poc chuc, ceviches, and stuffed cheese. For a contemporary twist, try the venison kibis or longaniza and smoked pork pizza. The drink menu includes an impressive selection of mezcal, tequila, and cocktails, complementing the meal perfectly.
The original Hacienda Teya, located just outside the city was established in 1683, once a cattle ranch and maize farm, then a henequen hacienda in the 19th century, this hacienda went through a period of abandonment, and revitalized in the 1970s. Today, the hacienda stands as a proud representation of modern Yucatán, combining innovative culinary techniques with traditional recipes to celebrate the region's gastronomic identity; with three branches of the restaurant, including this one in the city center. With great service and a warm atmosphere, Hacienda Teya offers a memorable dining experience for locals and visitors alike. Guests rave about the expertly prepared dishes, from the tender Sopa de Lima to the flavorful empanadas, all served in a stylish environment that shines, particularly in the evening.
